The “St. Louis Cardinals” is a professional American baseball team situated in St. Louis, Missouri. The team used to conduct their spring training at the Al Lang Field based in St. Petersburgh, Florida until the year 1997. Now, their spring training are held in the Roger Dean Stadium, located in Jupiter, Florida, where they share the stadium and spring training facilities with the Miami Marlins.
Originally, the team was a charter member of the American Association (AA) under the ownership of Chris von der Ahe, dated back in 1882. During their early years in the AA, their name was once shortened as the “Browns”. In between those years, the team’s name has been officially changed as the St. Louis Cardinals with a popular nickname “Cardinals”.
Although the team had just gone off from a nightmare during their prior losses, they started to gain their good fortunes in the year 1926. From there, the Cardinals won a total of 11 World Series championships and 19 National League (NL). The team attained its first World Series victory in 1926, the team’s chain of success continued as they won three more baseball league championships (1928, 1930, 1931) and another World Series in 1931.
In the league’s history, the St. Louis Cardinals are one of the most successful franchises, next to the New York Yankees. For the record, the team was able to compile more than 105 winnings in just four different seasons. The players of the team have also achieved 20 league MVPs, 4 battling Triple Crowns and 3 Cy Young Awards.
The team’s most notable players had been inducted a couple of times in the Baseball Hall of Fame, including Dizzy Dean, Gibson, Hornsby, Lou Brock, Herzog, Stan Musial, Rickey, Joe Medwick, Ozzie Smith, Red Schoendienst, Bruce Sutter and Tony La Russa.
